14TREES DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED 10% OF 3D PRINTED BUILDINGS AROUND THE WORLD

The 14Trees team has gained extensive expertise in construction 3D printing, having delivered game-changing projects across Africa since 2020. Our innovative technology improves construction speed, cost, and flexibility - scaling up digital automation to build resilient and affordable housing, education infrastructure, commercial and industrial real estate worldwide.

1st 3D-printed building in Africa

We pioneered the introduction of Construction 3D printing technology in Africa by completing the continent's first-ever 3D-printed building. Located in Lilongwe, Malawi, the walls of the inaugural 3D-printed African home were 3D-printed in just 12 hours.

World’s first 3D-printed school, opens in Malawi

We completed the world’s first 3D-printed school in Malawi’s Salima district. With walls built in just 18 hours, the project is a testament to a modern solution, in a country where UNICEF estimates a shortage of 36,000 classrooms which would take 70 years to build using conventional methods.

1st IFC EDGE Advanced 3D-printed building in the world

Located in Nairobi - Kenya, this model house made history as the world's first 3D-printed building to achieve IFC EDGE Advanced certification, showcasing impressive performance metrics. These include a 42% reduction in energy consumption, a 24% decrease in water usage during the construction process, and a remarkable 69% decrease in embodied energy in materials.

Mvule Gardens, Africa’s largest 3D-printed affordable housing project

Mvule Gardens, a new neighborhood on the Kenyan coast, is to spring into existence, in record time, thanks to a world beating 3D printing technology. Africa’s largest 3D-printed affordable housing project, the 52 house Mvule Gardens project is located in Kilifi town, north of Mombasa, in Kenya. The IFC-EDGE advanced sustainable design certified project, forms part of our ambition to develop resource-efficient buildings that are affordable, safe, well-located, and reliable for communities across Africa.

3D-printed pilot classroom in Madagascar for Thinking Huts

After the first 3D-printed school in the word, we delivered another school in Madagascar for Thinking Huts, a nonprofit organization that strives to enhance global access to education infrastructure using 3D printing technology. Taking inspiration from the beehive's honeycomb structure, this innovative design includes 3D printed walls combined with locally-sourced construction materials for the roof, doors, and windows.
